Our English Group

I'm Georgina and my friend here is called Josie and we are going to tell you about our English group in school. Me and Josie are in the top English group, the highest you can get. In English we do all sorts of different types of writing.

We sit together in the hall. Our English teacher is called Miss Payson. She is very calm and very intelligent, that's why were so good at English, because we follow her instructions. Sometimes English can be very difficult at times but we still write fantastic work.

Poems

In Literacy we have been writing our own poems for all types of different things. We would like to share some of our poems with you. Here is one that Stelina did:

My Old Bear

My old bear,
His name is Cuddles
He’s been with me through good and bad.

My old bear,
Is a peachy colour
Like the colour of honeycomb ice-cream.

My old bear is my most loved and that’s why he is mine.

This one is by Randeep:

The Wonderful Things in the World

The wonderful things in the world,
Can come from things like me,
From the glistening of the water
To the branches of the trees.

This is the one Rezwana did:

My Brother

My brother is very funny in all the things he does,
He’s so loving,
He’s cute and cuddly and is always up to something or another

He stumbles around the house,
His smile just cheers me up when I am glum and that’s why I love him.

Worry Dolls

For book week we made worry dolls. We have also been making worry pockets. They are for the dolls to live in. We took some of the worry dolls home when we were finished. The others went into a book. To make the worry dolls we needed wool, wire, paper, hot glue and soft materials. Them we put the worry dolls in our worry pockets. They were tricky at first but then it became easier because we got used to making them. We learnt about worry dolls from a book called Silly Billy by Anthony Browne. We also learnt about a country called Guatemala. We learnt about it because the children from Guatemala used worry dolls. They tell their worries to the worry dolls and then they can forget about the worries.

Penguins

In literacy we have been writing non-chronological reports and we watched March of the Penguins. Penguins are birds that can't fly. There are 17 types of penguins but the Emperor penguin is the biggest. Penguins have a long beak. They have two feet. Penguins are black and white and they have quite big bellies. They are a bit hairy.

How High Is Up?

Yesterday we went to the Redbridge Centre and saw How High Is Up?. The Sun and Moon were up in the heavens dancing every time, turning the earth around. Then the moon looked through the telescope. Ong Gia said to Little Star I need to tell you something and it is really important: everyone dies. But Little Star would not understand. I really liked the part when Little Star started to break things and the part when she ran away because it really built my attention and emotion. You should go and see it if you have a chance because it is really interesting.

How High is Up?

In this play Little star picks seeds for herself, the birds, the squirrels and for the trees. The characters names are the Bird With No Wings, Little Star, Ong Gia, the Sun and the Moon. I like when she went to the silent snow wizard because he took his coat off and he was Ong Gia. It made me emotional because it felt sad for little star when Ong Gia died. This play had emotion and it would touch our feelings. I think the story was trying to tell us that nobody lives forever, if somebody is going to die say a proper goodbye.

How High is Up?

Yesterday we went to Redbridge Drama Centre and saw How High is up? by Theatre Centre. The characters were The bird with no wings,Ong Gia, Little Star and the Sun and Moon. Ong Gia said that he was to die and Little Star was so furious. Then I liked it when the stage turned around and another season came up. When Ong Gia said the he was going to die and I started to cry a bit. I would recommend this play because it is magical.
