Farewell Cleveland

It is with great sadness that I am leaving Cleveland. Over the last 7 years I have met some amazing people - children and adults, I have learnt huge amounts, I have laughed and cried in equal measure. Class 9 I can not tell you enough how much I have enjoyed working with you. Yes, you sometimes infuriate me but you are all delightful and I am really sorry not to finishing the academic year with you. Keep working hard (start working hard some of you! ;o) ) and I know that you will get to where you want to.

This blog will move onto my new class but keep in touch though the Cleveland forums and let me know have you're getting on. I'll miss you all!

Lots of love
Miss J

Oxfam Donation

Once again I have been made immensely proud of my class. They have dug deep into their pockets again this year an together, in place of exchanging Christmas presents, we have raised an amazing £112 to spend at www.oxfamunwrapped.co.uk. The children decided to spend this money on the following:

School dinners for 300 children
Emergency Clothes
Fix a well
Health check-ups (x2)
100 bars of soap
Plant 25 trees
5 bags of seeds
Safe water for 12 people

Last year the children in Class 4 raised and impressive £80. They spent it on:

Teaching a teacher
School dinners for 200 children
Build a little bit of a classroom (x2)
Safe water for 25 people
Help provide health check-ups
5 bags of seeds

The year before that my class raised more than £60 and that too was spent on Oxfam Unlimited. Over the last 3 years their (and my) donations have gone to help some of the world's most disadvantaged people. Thank you to both of my Class 4s, Class 9 and all the parents and school adults that have donated with us at Christmas. You have made a difference.

Christmas Party

The Christmas party was our first but last party we had with Miss Jensen, who is unfortunately leaving and we will miss her a lot. The Christmas party was a blast. We had loads of fun. Class 9 had loads of food and drink at the party. The best part of the party was when all of Class 9 danced.

We were exhausted and out of breath at the end of the party. After we danced we had the delicious food. We had food like chocolate, cup cakes and for drinks we had Fanta, Coke and lemonade etc. Then we played all sorts of party games and we all had fab time. After a while we went into the hall and had a boogie with the rest of the year 5 classes and …

That was the most remember-able party that we had with Miss Jensen.

Happy Moments with Miss Jensen

When we do work Miss Jensen always helps us and is kind but sometimes she shouts for a good reason. She makes good ideas for fun stuff. The fun part I liked was making Egyptian headdresses.

Miss Jensen never lets me down. Miss Jensen brings good stuff for Christmas.

Poems

In Literacy we have been writing our own poems for all types of different things. We would like to share some of our poems with you. Here is one that Stelina did:

My Old Bear

My old bear,
His name is Cuddles
He’s been with me through good and bad.

My old bear,
Is a peachy colour
Like the colour of honeycomb ice-cream.

My old bear is my most loved and that’s why he is mine.

This one is by Randeep:

The Wonderful Things in the World

The wonderful things in the world,
Can come from things like me,
From the glistening of the water
To the branches of the trees.

This is the one Rezwana did:

My Brother

My brother is very funny in all the things he does,
He’s so loving,
He’s cute and cuddly and is always up to something or another

He stumbles around the house,
His smile just cheers me up when I am glum and that’s why I love him.

Nativity Play at Cleveland Junior School.

In our school we have had a nativity play; a nativity play is a play about the birth of Jesus Christ. The cast have been working very hard for the past couple of weeks.

The cast people are:
Randeep plays the part of Mary
Pawan plays the part of Joseph
Manmeet plays the part of the King Herod
Simret, Thigarnan and Saad play the shepherds
Shamla is the star
Liu plays the angel.
And those are some of them.

Solid, Liquid and Gas

Everything falls into these groups: Solid, Liquid, Gas

Solids: are very easy to control the volume of the shape doesn’t change (unless you heat it).
Liquids: are hard to control they keep running away. You can freeze it to make a solid.
Gases: are the hardest to control, they take up all the space in their containers.

Christmas Party

This year we had a party to celebrate how hardworking we have been. It really good fun and one of the best parties.

There were cakes to munch, biscuits to crash and lots of fizzy drinks to cool us down. It was fun!

Times with Miss Jensen

I’ve had really good times with Miss Jensen because when she’s happy she’s funny.

Christmas Party

The first thing we did was Miss told us she was going to choose people to set up the tables for the food to go on. Then when that was done, some people got changed. We started with some dancing. The next thing we did was we had a competition for who did the best dancing. Next we had some food and there was crisps and drinks and loads of other things as well. Then we played a game called know your own mind. After that we went in the hall and danced to Y.M.C.A.

A Rhyme for Miss Jensen

Miss Jensen, Miss Jensen, Miss Jensen
She sometimes gives us detention, when we don’t pay attention.
But it’s her affection which keeps us in connection
You're a very special person
Destined to go
There'll be tears in our eyes
We’ll drown in sweat if your not there
I know we wasn't the best behaved
That you've ever taught.
I know we got distracted
Much more than we ought

Some lessons were a challenge
And you taught us how to cope,
Each day we grew in confidence,
Ability and hope.

I really now appreciate
You made us learn thro' fun.
Thank you very, very much Miss Jensen
For all you've said and done.

With a special gift for teaching
And with a heart that deeply cares,
You add a lot of love
To everything you share,
And even though you mean a lot,
You'll never know how much,
you helped to change the world
Through every life you touched.

You sparked the creativity
In the students whom you taught,
And helped them strive for goals
That could not be bought,
You are such a special teacher
That no words can truly tell
However much you're valued
For the work you do so well.

Thank you so much for being
So very nice, kind and good;
We like you so much, Miss Jensen
We will like you to stay here if you could.

I always loved your class;
Your teaching helped us see,
That to have a full and happy life,
Learning is the key.

All we can say is we’ll miss you, don’t forget us as we won’t forget you.

Cairo

In this term in class 9 we have been learning about Egypt with help from a company called Cairo Comes to School. We had to pay three pounds to see and do the two activities. First we had to split our class into two groups of 15. Firstly we learnt Egyptian dance. We had to take our shoes off and it was extremely fun. The other activity was drumming and we had to use our hands and keep our rhythm. We got different sized drums and in the dancing we had to wear red and green hats. At the end of the day everyone did a performance part to the rest of the year group.
